In my first ever job I made $600/month.

Moved up for 3 years and was making $2k/month when I decided to quit.

I started building my agency on the side.

Worked 16+ hours a day. Did that for 2 years before I quit my job.

Next 1 year was brutal.

Lost 3 big clients. Majority of my revenue at that time. I had a team of 5 to pay. It was difficult.

I pivoted (a story for another time). Turned things around. Grew my team from 5 to 12. Grew tired of agency work.

It was my dream to build my own agency. I'd achieved it. But It was too much.

12+ hours work days. Managing clients. Employees. Vendors and contractors. My dream turned into a nightmare.

I wanted a way out.

Not having any skills apart from designing. It was going to be hard.

I studied hard. Watched a ton of YouTube videos. Read hundreds of blog posts.

I read 4-hour work week and things started to improve.

My first online business?

Started a clothing brand. Nope, not POD. I built everything from the ground up. (Story for another time )

Didn't go as well as I expected it to. Clothing is a brutal business. Low margins. High return rate. Dead stock. Hard to make a good profit.

To promote my clothing business I started a blog on the side. That was slowly taking off. Not making any money yet.

So I started learning everything I could about making money from the blog. If you're in the game long enough...you'd know guys like Pat Flynn, and John Lee dumas. I read their blogs like crazy. First thing I did was set up my Amazon affiliate account.

Start making a few $$ here and there. Nothing great.

One day while reading blogs I found an article talking about selling ebooks. What attracted me was that the blog said

"you don't need a 300 page book to make money. 30 to 40 pages are enough"

That was a light bulb moment. Now, writing 10 pages was hard for me then. English isn't my first language. I did my entire schooling in my native language. English was just one subject. I barely passed.

But for some reason, the idea of selling ebooks interested me a lot

Probably because I ran an inventory business (my clothing biz) The idea of unlimited inventory felt amazing.

I decided to gave it a try. I packaged an article from my blog. Added a few images. And I started selling ebooks. I made $6 from selling 3 copies.

$6 isn't much. But someone paid real money for a PDF document I created in less than an hour blew my mind. I decided to go all in. Improved the ebook. Sold more.

In the last 3 years, I've sold more than 20k+ copies of that same ebook. It's been a wild ride.

After that I created close to 30 ebooks. And sold a ton more.

While doing this... I also started posting on Instagram. First 6 months I got less than 5k followers. Then it started to grow. In the next 6 months, I crossed 100k+ followers. Today I've 1mn+ followers on IG

Why I don't share my Instagram pages here anymore?

I used to in the beginning. A few guys here have seen my IG pages and blog. I don't anymore. Because it reveals my identity. And I prefer to stay anon I did a lot of PR shxt for my clothing brand and my name is all over Google

Anyways...

That blog and IG pages are in fashion/lifestyle niche. I partnered up with a guy to start an architecture & interior design blog and IG pages. That grew exponentially I'm the last 2 years. IG is at 450k+ followers. Blog gets 10k+ visitors a day.

It's a major publication in the design niche in India. I also built 5 Pinterest accounts. 3 of them are useless now. But the other two have a combined following of 1mn+. Doesn't make much money directly. But it's a massive traffic source.

In 2019 I started taking Twitter seriously. Jan to August 2019 was brutal. Got 22 followers in 8 months. But I didn't give up. Because I'd experienced the power of compounding with my IG and Pinterest. I started to see traction in August 2019. I've 76k+ followers now.

It's been a significant income source for me. TBH I don't make as much money as I should from Twitter. Because I sell low-ticket ebooks and have no upsell. Might do something about it later. RN I'm busy building other stuff.

For our design blog we launched an iOS & Android app. It's a simple new aggregation app. Crossed 25k+ downloads in the last 3 months. Not making any money rn. But I hope it'll start making money once we cross 100k+ downloads.

I'm working on a few more ideas. But it's still too early to say anything about them.

That's my story. It's been a hard ride.

Overcame a lot of obstacles. But it was worth it.

Building online assets changed the game for me. I never thought this was possible.
