I have a friend who’s a stock market advisor. He offers portfolio management services to his clients.

He gets no upfront money from his clients as hedge funds do. But, he gets paid a percentage of the profit he makes his clients.

It’s good money. But it’s irregular. And the amount varies a lot too. One month it’s $15k and the other month it’s $3k. Depends on the trade cycle and the market.

A couple of months back while we were discussing my portfolio allotment. He shared his concerns about irregular income with me. So, I as tell everyone… I told him to build an audience. So, he can sell some kind of productise service to them and get predictable income.

But, building a social media audience isn’t practical for him. He doesn't know much nor has the inclination or the time to learn it from scratch. The best way for him to build an email-based audience.

So, the first thing we did is we created a simple report. It was about candle-chart patterns. (I don’t know much about it so I won’t try to explain it.) And we approached a bunch of stock market Telegram groups (There are tons in India). And we placed ads in those groups.

Built a simple landing page on Mailchimp. We asked for an email address and a WhatsApp number in exchange for a report. Some groups did well. Some didn’t.

But we managed to gather 3k+ email addresses within a week's time.

We already had an autoresponder sequence set up. There were 9 emails in it. The first 3 emails were pure value. Did not sell anything in those emails. The next 3 were talking about the value of the service my friend provided. The last 3 were hard selling the offer.

His service was simple. He’ll send 4 emails & WhatsApp messages a month. Every Saturday. With a list of stocks to trade for the next week. And with a brief explanation of why he picked those stocks in particular.

Out of those 3k subscribers, around 5% bought the offer. The price of the offer was Rs. 1999/month (Around $25/month). We did send a few more emails after the autoresponder. And got 148 people to opt in for the offer.

He made Rs. 2,95,852 INR (Around $3.9k) from a tiny list of 3k people. The good part is he can repeat the same process (aka run more ads and get more subscribers) and increase his recurring income.

This is the power of building an email list. And why I recommend everyone to build their email lists.

If you do it right… your email list can make you life-changing money. My friend literally built a new recurring income source within a couple of weeks.

It’s not easy. But it’s never been easier.
